This meeting brought together 30 experts in new media from the Arab region with a view to increase the role of communication and information in the promotion of peace and reconciliation, especially in conflict or post-conflict areas, and to foster cross-border cooperation among the media. A guide to best practice and a selection of successful experiences from the different participating countries is being produced.The meeting was organised by Unescocat's Audiovisuals Department that was in charge of managing the UNESCO Audiovisual Platform, at the request of the UNESCO Association in Igualada, throughout 2009.
