Starting tomorrow September 17 and until day 25, a multi-religious delegation, accompanied by selected Catalan Unescocat visit Scotland to participate in the third phase of the exchange between religious and civic leaders from Barcelona, New York and Glasgow. Buddhist, Catholic, Muslim, Protestant and Sikh traditions will be represented as well as the Department of Women and Civil Rights (which supports event) and the Office of Religious Affairs, both of the City Council of Barcelona. The objective of this program is to learn and discuss about good practices and difficulties in the management of religious diversity in three different cultural contexts. It is also aimed to foster meaningful dialogue between significant personalities from the religious, civil and political fields in Barcelona and Catalonia.
The first part of the programme took place in New York in June 2009 and the second one in Barcelona, last October 2010 (see a video at http://www.youtubecom/watch?v=ulhGtRPF08I). The program was promoted by the Interfaith Center of New York and is also coordinated by Unescocat and by the Scottish Interfaith Council, institutions selected for their expertise in the management of religious diversity and the promotion of interfaith dialogue. Unescocat spreads this knowledge and experience through the new website of the International Network on Religions and Mediation in Urban Areas (http://www.rel-med.net/ca/).
