As a human rights advocate, Unescocat is committed to furthering the teaching and promotion of pluralism and cultural diversity, intercultural dialogue and the fight against racism and new forms of discrimination and exclusion.

 

The Department of Human Rights and Cultural Diversity:

  • develops educational awareness raising projects and training programmes
  • promotes research and reflection on racism
  • offers technical support to the public sector and rolls out innovative new ways to promote cultural diversity and combat different forms of discrimination
  • develops educational materials and guides on human rights and managing diversity
  • organises activities geared toward promoting gender equality and improving conditions for women.

 

The Department of Human Rights and Cultural Diversity currently has agreements with the Catalan Department of Home Affairs, Institutional Relations and Participation, the Catalan Institute for Public Security and the Secretariat for Immigration. These are aimed at developing training material and actions, providing advisory work, and organising meetings and conferences through working groups and professionals in the field of immigration, Human Rights, discrimination, managing diversity, mediation, dialogue and intercultural education.
