An international project adopted by UNESCO in 1987, it promotes cooperation between people through education and language learning.

The general objectives are to:

• Contribute to promoting multilingual education oriented towards a culture of peace
• Develop educational tools to foster multilingual education and language learning
• Remove linguistic prejudice
• Promote knowledge and the value of languages
• Provide incentive for language learning.
