The Group of Catalan UNESCO-Associated Libraries was created in 1995 to disseminate UNESCO’s objectives. The 41 libraries that currently belong to the group in Catalonia and the Balearic Islands are well aware of the social, educational and integrating role of libraries.
They disseminate UNESCO publications and organise all manner of activities to promote United Nations international days, years and commemorations and address the major challenges of our century.
Unescocat co-ordinates the Group of Catalan UNESCO-Associated Libraries, providing support for a variety of innovative library projects and initiatives to promote reading and storytelling, as well as for the adaptation of library services to cater for the growing cultural diversity of Catalan towns.
