We are glad to present two fruits of the campaign in support to the right to education we launched in January 2009: a video filmed in UNRWA schools in Gaza by Dani Lagartofernández and teaching materials aimed at primary and secondary school pupils.

In response to the bombings in the Gaza Strip in January 2009 which led to the destruction of schools and constituted a serious offence against the right to education for thousands of children and young people living in the area, Unescocat initiated a humanitarian campaign with the slogan “Education in Gaza, a seed for peace”. In a first phase, Unescocat coordinated a collection of funds with the aim of developing a plan for the reconstruction of school buildings.

In January 2010, with the support of the Catalan Agency for Development Cooperation (ACCD) an awareness raising programme was organised in Catalan universities and youth organisations through a conference cycle on "Education in conflict areas, the case of Gaza", held from 26 to 29 April 2010.
